On October, 5 the Digital October Centre hosted more than 700 Russian developers, experts, world famous mobile device manufacturers and organizations. They got together at Apps4All Forum to discuss the prospects of multiplatform application development and distribution. Polylog PR together with Apps4All Company organized the event. The II Apps4All Forum was opened with a plenary session involving the participation of Mark Shmulevich (Deputy Minister of Telecommunications of the Russian Federation), Sergei Borisov (President of public organization of small and medium business OPORA Russia), Jay Koo (Head of Smart TV in the CIS and Baltic countries, LG), Igor Agamirzyan (CEO of RBC), Sergey Belousov (Senior Partner of Runa Capital venture fund), Alexey Komissarov (Head of the Department of Science, Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship of Moscow).

An intensive business programs on advanced development and world trends in the mobile market was divided into four thematic blocks. The results of the “First Russian market research on mobile application development in Russia and the CIS” launched on August, 21 2012 on apps4all.ru portal were officially presented in the Grand Hall of the Digital October Centre.

Sergey Belousov (Co-owner of Runa Capital venture fund) and Leonid Bugaev (Founder and Creative Director of Nordic Agency AB) made their presentations. Touching upon common mistakes of mobile application developers, Sergey Belousov pointed out: “Startup project managers, who just want to make money, will get nothing. The project must necessarily have a noteworthy mission: it must solve real problems. This is one of the main criteria that we follow while deciding whether to invest in the company or not.”

LG Smart TV platform, the most popular services and applications offered to Russian LG TV users and new developed products in IT industry— LG multimedia Cloud service were presented as part of LG Smart TV discussion panel, organized by LG Electronics.

Jay Koo, Head of Smart TV LG Electronics in the CIS and Baltic countries, said that “Apps4All Forum is very important to LG since it's an innovative platform for connecting people, business needs and ideas. It is Smart TV technology that has opened applications the access to the big screen and, developing over the past two years, it became a stable trend in 2012.

Russia, CIS and Baltic countries are a strategic market for LG, and that is why providing local users with the best set of Smart TV applications in these countries is crucial to us.”

In addition, the official opening of LG Smart TV Apps Contest 2012 took place within the framework of the II Apps4all Forum. The competition was held for the first time in Russia in 2011. Now Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia participate in the competition as well. LG Smart TV Apps Contest 2012 involves the competitions on ideas and applications.

The representatives of leading software companies including the winner of the first Apps4all contest Igor Barinov, shared their valuable experience with the Forum participants in the section of Russian Apps4All developers’ community. The developers presented the designs of their mobile applications to the competent experts within the startup battle “Win people's love”, organized by Apps4all together with the Startup Afisha. The participants of the startup battle could use any form of creative presentation including video, song, dance, drama, and flash mob — anything except banal voiceover of PowerPoint slides.

According to the voting results of the Forum participants, GFRANQ team became the winner. It presented a project that allows editing photos with professional filters in a few simple steps.

GFRANQ developers got “people's love”, project coverage on Apps4All and Startup Afisha portals, as well as some other prizes from the partner, namely a prototype of BlackBerry10 DevAlpha smartphone.

Russia's largest banks shared their information about one of the most promising areas in the industry, namely, the development of applications for the financial sector. The best Russian media applications (mobile platforms for digital content) were presented in the Digital publishing section.

The event ended with a prize drawing from Apps4all Forum partners: flash drives, anti-stress and RIM T-shirts, webcams and Oklick computer mice. Intel Company presented Megafon SP-A20i Mint smartphones to the most talented and creative developers.

Apps4All Forum was supported by Russia’s leading universities including Lomonosov Moscow State University, HSE and Bauman Moscow State Technical University. A new series of workshops “IDEA ≥ 1 000000”, involving the participation of experts of the II Apps4all Developers Contest, was launched at universities. The results of the contest will be announced in April 2013 at the III International Apps4All Developers Forum.
